Statutory and Tax Compliance Calendar for month of August 2026

This article compiles due-dates for GST, Income Tax, ESI, PF Acts, and Companies Act compliances with a primary focus on Individuals, Professionals, and SME Businesses.

  1. upreme Court Upholds Section 16(2)(c) of the CGST Act: No Input Tax Credit Unless Supplier Pays GST in Bhandari Scrap Traders v. Union of India & Ors. (SLP (C) No. 23931 of 2026, order dated 24 July 2026), thereby affirming the Gujarat High Court’s judgment in Maruti Enterprise v. Union of India & Ors.

     

  2. Safecon Lifesciences — Addl. Commr. v. Safecon Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd., SC order dated 17.07.2026 dismissing the Revenue’s SLP against the Allahabad High Court judgment. he apex court upheld the taxpayer-friendly judgment, shielding bona fide purchasers from losing Input Tax Credit (ITC) solely because a supplier’s GST registration was retrospectively cancelled.
